HWPL President Lee Man Hee Meets Ukrainian Religious Leaders at Kyiv ICC

10.05.2018 / 1015

On 9 May, Kyiv Islamic Cultural Centre became a scene for an important meeting of the Ukrainian religious leaders and people from the South Korean organisation promoting interfaith peace and consent, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL). The meeting was initiated by the South Korean party.

At the conference-hall of Kyiv Islamic Cultural Centre, HWPL President Lee Man Hee met Said Ismagilov (Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Umma”), Oleksandr Dukhovnyi (Ukraine’s Supreme Rabbi of Progressive Judaism Communities), Vraja Hare Prabhu (Leader of Ukrainian Krishnaites), Tariq Sarhan (representative of the CSU “AUA “Alraid” and HWPL Ambassador for Peace) in order to share their ideas on promoting global interfaith dialogue and on efficiency on the Religions Alliance events on comparative Scripturology held in 127 countries (including Ukraine).

The Mufti spoke about the Ukrainian Sunni Muslim Community where he is the leader, peculiarities of Sunni Islam, and the history of good-neighbour relations in Ukraine. According to Sheikh Said, the secret was as simple as “when people live side by side for centuries, they look to learning each other’s traditions, faith and festivals; to respecting each other and avoiding conflicts,” — and modern Ukrainians, he stressed, were doing their best to keep up with the tradition.

Mr.Ismagilov mentioned the HWLP’s input in promoting interfaith peace and cohesion, and Mr.Tariq Sarhan’s (Head of “Alraid” Islamic Culture Introduction Department and, since 2016, HWPL Ambassador for Peace) efforts in particular.

Mr. Lee Man Hee spoke about the history of their organisation, stressed the necessity of uniting people for the sake of peace, and introduced their Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). A veteran of the Korean War and a descendant of the royal dynasty, Mr.Lee strives for peace and sees the best opportunity for it in grassroot communication of common followers of different religions. He believes that “there are no contradictions in the religions, no hundreds or thousands of gods — but there’s one God who, in different Scriptures, gave clear answers to the problem of achieving peace.”
